About Me
My Business Process
My name is Erin, and I work from my home in Lansing, Michigan.  I have 2 bachelor's degrees, a master's degree, and worked for 10 years in the public schools.  Now I'm a mom to two and work part-time as a proofreader.
My hobbies include running, biking for sport and transportation, craft beer, reading, baking, sewing, and spending as much time as possible outdoors.  I'm actively involved in my church and the local preschool scene.
My preferred method is to use an iPad with the iAnnotate software to proofread your transcript as a PDF.  This process allows me to mark directly on your transcript as I read with the same seamlessness that's offered by printing and annotating the transcript by hand. This places you in control of making sure you agree with the changes I suggest.
If you don't know how to send me a PDF, I'll give you some easy instructions to follow for transferring your transcript to a PDF before you send it to me.  I'll mark up your transcript (you'll see my highlights in yellow and annotations in red) and send back to you any page that I've marked.
Your personal preference is my first consideration when reading your transcript;
I encourage everyone I work with to fill out a preference sheet so that I know some of your preferences up front.
Beyond that, I will use the reference books and dictionary of your choosing.  My personal practice has focused on Court Reporting: Bad Grammar/Good Punctation by Margie Wakeman Wells, The Gregg Reference Manual, Lillian Morson's English Guide for Court ReportersMerriam-Webster's Unabridged Dictionaryand plenty of Google.
